Music to my Ears….it’s GRAMMY AWARDS NIGHT!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: the 59th Annual Grammy Awards! The one night of the year when the highest honors in the music industry are awarded. It’s also the one night of the year when I rack up purchases on my iTunes account (you know you do it too). And let’s take a moment to applaud the fact that the fabulous James Corden is the host! Maybe he’ll surprise us with a live enactment of “Carpool Karaoke.” Wouldn’t that be something!?

I’m also looking forward the amazing musical performances: Adele, Katy Perry, The Weeknd and Daft Punk, Chance the Rapper, John Legend and Cynthia Erivo, Bruno Mars, A Tribe Called Quest and Anderson .Paak, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban, Alicia Keys and Maren Morris, Little Big Town with Demi Lovato, Andra Day and Tori Kelly, Kelsea Ballerini, Lukas Graham, Gary Clark Jr., William Bell, and Lady Gaga and Metallica…….METALLICA!!! Hello greatest concert EVER!

MOST IMPORTANTLY, who are the contenders this year and who am I crossing my fingers and toes for? Here’s the scoop:

Best country song: Miranda Lambert’s “Vice,” Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind,” Maren Morris’ “My Church,” Thomas Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man,” and Keith Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” I’m rooting for Tommy on this one; “Die a Happy Man” is my reminder that all men suck…unless they’re Thomas Rhett.

Best rap/sung performance: Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar’s “Freedom,” Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty’s “Broccoli,” Kanye West’s “Ultralight Beam,” and Kanye West and Rihanna’s “Famous.” Man, this a tough one…..but let’s face it, Queen B always prevails.

Best new artist: Kelsea Ballerini, The Chainsmokers, Chance the Rapper, Maren Morris and Anderson .Paak. Baby, pull me closer to that gold phonograph because you know who’s taking this one home!

Best music video: Beyonce’s “Formation,” Leon Bridges’ “River,” Coldplay’s “Up & Up,” Jamie XX’s “Gosh,” and OK Go’s “Upside Down & Inside Out.” Although Queen B’s video was seen as controversial, we all know it was five-alarm HOT. Those outfits and that New Orleans flavor rocked my world. You’ve got my vote Bey!

Album of the year: Adele’s “25,” Beyonce’s “Lemonade,” Justin Bieber’s “Purpose,” Drake’s “Views,” and Sturgill Simpson’s “A Sailor’s Guide to Earth.” Ugh, SO MANY GOOD CHOICES!!!! But in my opinion, it’s kind of a given. Keep naming album’s after your age Adele….it’s working, girl!

Record of the year: Adele’s “Hello,” Beyonce’s Formation,” Lukas Graham’s “7 Years,” Rihanna and Drake’s “Work,” and Twenty One Pilot’s “Stressed Out.” I think it’s clear, AGAIN, who’s got the leg up on thus one. Thank you Adele for giving us the greatest line when we answer our phone calls.

You can find the full list of awards and nominees at Billboard.com. And don’t forget to tune in TONIGHT on CBS @ 7:00pm central time, with pre-show and red carpet @ 6:30pm central! Don’t miss the greatest night in music!

Cheerio ole chaps! I'm a retired dancer & an aspiring broadcast journalist who would love to work for CNN London (I'm a Brit at heart). I love talking to anyone who listens & reliving my dance days in my kitchen. Chicken nuggets are a crucial part of my diet as well as Moscato. In my downtime, I enjoy napping with my rescue Pitbull, Cowboy & binge-watching CSI: Miami. Happy reading sexy beasts!
