Somebody I Used to Know by David Bell Book Review

The lowdown from Goodreads

Publication Date July 1, 2015

When Nick Hansen sees the young woman at the grocery store, his heart stops. She is the spitting image of his college girlfriend, Marissa Minor, who died in a campus house fire twenty years earlier. But when Nick tries to speak to her, she acts skittish and rushes off.
The next morning the police arrive at Nick’s house and show him a photo of the woman from the store. She’s been found dead, murdered in a local motel, with Nick’s name and address on a piece of paper in her pocket.

Convinced there’s a connection between the two women, Nick enlists the help of his college friend Laurel Davidson to investigate the events leading up to the night of Marissa’s death. But the young woman’s murder is only the beginning…and the truths Nick uncovers may make him wish he never doubted the lies.

Somebody I Used to Know by David Bell Book Review

Get ready to devote your time to this story. It’s wild, in the very best way. David Bell keeps you guessing.

Short Chapters Keep You Reading

One thing I really like about David’s writing style is his short chapters. Good luck reading just one. Honestly, he ends every chapter with an OMG moment that keeps me turning the pages late into the night. With the short chapters, you feel like you burn through the book really quickly and it motivates me to continue.

Do Not Doubt David Bell

In an author’s note, David states Somebody I Used To Know is one of his favorite books. After reading it, I can totally see why. I finished the book over three days and it was all I could think about. Honestly, I wasn’t sure David could wrap up all these wild storylines in a satisfying & believable way. Lesson learned, do not doubt David Bell!
