Have you heard of the Spooked Podcast?
I love a good ghost story. Jessica & grew up obsessing over Are You Afraid of the Dark? on Nickelodeon. We looked forward to Saturday nights & couldn’t wait for the next tale from the Midnight Society. Back then (and still) I wished I had my own crew to sit beside me at a campfire & tell scary stories.
When October rolls around, I’m on the hunt for new horror movies, ghost stories & spooky things. The Spooked Podcast is just what I need this time of year.
Snap Judgment Presents: Spooked
The Spooked Podcast is a collection of ghost stories. Each episode is about 30 minutes long & features 1 or 2 different narrators telling his or her encounters with the paranormal. The first episode titled, ‘The Watcher’ features a woman who comes in contact with a ghost. There are 2 episodes, ‘Borderlands’ & ‘The Shadow Men’ that each feature tales from a border patrol agent. By far, the tale that scared me the most is ‘A Friend in the Forest’; this story made me shiver in broad daylight. I won’t spoil it, but it centers around a boy & his “imaginary friend”.
Why You Should Listen to the Spooked Podcast
If you’re into anything paranormal, like a good suspense story & want to get a few scares in before Halloween, the Spooked Podcast is for you. The plan is for WNYC to release 2 episodes a week leading you to Halloween & I’m ready for this to be a year-round podcast. I poked around the Interwebs and found a few more episodes of Spooked on the Snap Judgment website. Score!
I love how each episode features different narrators; it makes each story more believable. Of course, the sound effects added by the producers enhance the stories even more. If you’re scared easily, don’t worry. The Spooked Podcast walks the line of frightening you, but not in a gory or garish way. It’s like Are You Afraid of the Dark? for grownups.
THE VERDICT
Obviously, I am Really Into the Spooked Podcast. I cannot shut up about it. I’ve texted & even called several of my friends to tell them to hurry up & get caught up so we can talk about the stories.
