First off, I am always amazed when two authors are able to pull off such a fluid, yet dynamic read, but Lisa & Liz are so good at what they do. Okay, so we know that Jacks gets word that her husband died in Hawaii, while he was traveling with another woman. Talk about a shock & a huge slap in the face. I mean, can you imagine the emotions? I would be furious, disappointed, mad as hell, devastated & at a standstill as to what to do next. SO many unanswered questions loom. Who was this woman? How long was he having an affair? How did Jacks not know?

So, when the other woman’s fiancé, Nick shows up at Jack’s place & says, ‘Let’s go to Hawaii and get closure’. I was all for her going to Hawaii & trying to get to the bottom of this story. It takes a strong woman to dive into painful & uncharted waters with a stranger.  Jacks definitely earns my respect. This was kind of a crazy scenario, but the way Liz & Lisa offered it to the readers, I bought it hands down. I think I would have done the same thing as Jacks. I would want to know.

In Hawaii, she & Nick start to piece the story together about what happened & how they each wound up alone & jilted. This is where Lisa & Liz do their magic because I fell head first into this story & didn’t come up for air until the very last page.

THE VERDICT

Oh, y’all. I’ve heard so many good things about this book & I have to add to the glowing reviews here. I was Really Into The Good Widow. Weeks later, I still think about this enjoyable, smart & satisfying thriller. If you’re Really Into domestic thrillers like The Good Widow, you’re sure to also enjoy Mary Kubica’s Every Last Lie.
