Use a mixer to mix & knead all dough ingredients together. You will knead the dough until all ingredients are combined. Know that the dough will be wet & sticky.
-
Place the dough in a large bowl, cover & let it rise for about an hour.
-
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface that's large enough to accommodate a large rectangle of dough. If you can stretch it to about 20" x 16" you're in good shape. Anything that resembles a rectangle will do just fine.
-
Now, we make the filling by mixing the butter, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon & salt together. It should be fairly smooth & like a soft paste.
-
Spread the filling onto the dough as best you can. Try to get it to the edges & cover the entire dough surface.
-
Roll the dough from the longest edge & it will make a long cylinder.
-
Using floss (not flavored!), begin to cut cinnamon rolls a little over an inch each.
-
Transfer the cut rolls onto a cookie sheet covered in parchment paper.
-
Cover the rolls again with a loose plastic wrap for 1-2 hours until they've risen. Likely, they won't double, but they will rise more in the oven.
-
Bake the rolls at 350 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes until golden brown.
