Best Of,  Sarah,  We Are Really Into This

Golden Globes 2017

Golden Globes 2017

Awards Season is upon us!!  This is my favorite time of the year and the Golden Globes is my favorite show by far! It’s the one that combines the best of TV and movies, plus the actors are always drinking and seem so much more relaxed.  We put in our best guesses on TV shows since this year Sarah and I are both behind on the most of the movies. Don’t worry, we will be caught up by the time the Oscars come around.  Stay tuned to see what Golden Globes fashion we were Really Into!

Best Television Series, Drama

The Crown, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, This Is Us, Westworld

Sarah’s PickThis Is Us  This show grabbed everyone by the heartstrings this year. It’s well written & well acted. I have no complaints about this show. Of course, I love The Crown as well, but I think This Is Us has it in the bag.

Jessica’s Pick: I keep hearing great things about This is US, and I loved Stranger Things and Westworld, but I really think Game of Thrones is going to take it for its penultimate season.  It was just so good.

Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy

Atlanta, Blackish, Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent, Veep

Sarah’s Pick: Blackish  I love this show too much. It’s funny, current, & stars the goddess, Jenifer Lewis- it’s a done deal.

Jessica’s PickVeep This smartly crafted show is still going strong.  This is tough because I love every one of these shows.

Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television

American Crime, The Dresser, The Night Manager, The Night Of, The People v. O.J.: American Crime Story

Sarah’s PickThe People v. O.J.: American Crime Story is going to win EVERYTHING! I still think about this show on a weekly basis. It’s amazing. I wish I could get my damn hands on American Crime. I tried to record this show & it got messed up. I can’t find it anywhere.

Jessica’s Pick: I didn’t see any of these with the exception of The Night Of, which I thought was fantastic.  We binged watched it in one weekend!

Best Performance By an Actor in a Television Series, Drama

Rami Malek, Mr. Robot, Bob Odenkirk, Better Call Saul, Matthew Rhys, The Americans, Liev Schreiber, Ray Donovan, Billy Bob Thornton, Goliath

Sarah’s Pick: Hmmmm I think Rami Malek will win, but Baby D is going with Liev Schreiber from his favorite, Ray Donovan. I swear, he is Really Into every Showtime show.

Jessica’s Pick:  I agree with you 100% Sarah.  Rami Malek all the way.

Best Performance By an Actor in a Television Series, Musical, or Comedy

Anthony Anderson, Blackish, Gael Garcia Bernal, Mozart in the Jungle, Donald Glover, Atlanta, Nick Nolte, Graves, Jeffrey Tambor, Transparent

Sarah’s Pick: I think this go could go a few different ways. I mean, Amazon is killing it. I do think it would be amazing for Anthony Anderson to win. Dre is a great character & he’s a hell of an actor.

Jessica’s PickMozart in the Jungle is one of my favorite shows and Gael Garcia Bernal is fantastic, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Jeffrey Tambor pulled it out again.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Series, Limited Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television

Riz Ahmed, The Night Of, Bryan Cranston, All the Way, Tom Hiddleston, The Night Manager, Courtney B. Vance, The People v. O.J.: American Crime Story, John Turturro, The Night Of

Sarah’s Pick: All my money is on Courtney B. Vance. I’ve loved him since he played Jim in Huck Finn. He’s amazing as Johnnie Cochran & like I said- this series is going to sweep to Golden Globes.

Jessica’s Pick:  I may just have to ride the way with Sarah on this one….

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television

Sterling K. Brown, The People v. O.J.: American Crime Story, Hugh Laurie, The Night Manager, John Lithgow, The Crown, Christian Slater, Mr. Robot, John Travolta, The People v. O.J.: American Crime Story

Sarah’s Pick: Two actors from the same series battling it out- I’m Into it. Sterling K. Brown is a shoe-in for this category. I fell in love with him as Christopher Darden. He’s one of my favorite actors right now. I’ll be heartbroken if he isn’t recognized & for me to pick him over my boy John Lithgow should tell you how amazing he is.
Jessica’s Pick: Once again….Sarah’s got me beat on watching these, though Christian Slater has made a great comeback on Mr. Robot.

Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series, Drama

Caitriona Balfe, Outlander, Claire Foy, The Crown, Keri Russell, The Americans, Winona Ryder, Stranger Things, Evan Rachel Wood, Westworld

Sarah’s Pick: I’m taking Claire Foy for the win. She embodies Queen Elizabeth.

Jessica’s Pick:  I think I’m going to have to go for Evan Rachel Wood.  Her performance is so nuanced on Westworld.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Actress in a Series, Limited Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television

Olivia Colman, The Night Manager, Lena Headey, Game of Thrones, Chrissy Metz, This Is Us, Mandy Moore, This Is Us, Thandie Newton, Westworld

Sarah’s Pick: Again!?! Two actors from the same series nominated. I’m going with Chrissy Metz. There’s no character like Kate on TV right now.

Jessica’s Pick: I am just such a Game of Thrones fan that I’m putting my support behind Lena Headey for her always strong performance as Cersei.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television

Felicity Huffman, American Crime, Riley Keough, The Girlfriend Experience, Sarah Paulson, The People v. O.J.: American Crime Story, Charlotte Rampling, London Spy, Kerry Washington, Confirmation

Sarah’s Pick: I was Really Into Confirmation & Kerry Washington was amazing as Anita Hill. PLEASE, watch it if you haven’t already. But, my girl, Sarah Paulson deserves this Golden Globe for her performance as Marcia Clark. The “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia” episode alone clenched it. That episode showed what it’s like to be a woman in society, a mother, a friend, a lover & it was PERFECT! I cried like a baby & can’t remember when an episode had that affect on me.
Jessica’s Pick:  Confirmation was fantastic and Kerry Washington killed it, but Sarah had so much emotion talking about Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark that I think she may pull it off.

Best Performance By an Actress in a Television Series, Musical, or Comedy

Rachel Bloom, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep, Sarah Jessica Parker, Divorce, Issa Rae, Insecure, Gina Rodriguez, Jane the Virgin, Tracee Ellis Ross, Blackish

Sarah’s Pick: Love me some SJP, Gina Rodriguez is so fantastic as Jane, I LOVE Rainbow on Blackish, but Rachel Bloom is getting the Globe. Thankfully Jessica told me she was Really Into  Crazy Ex-Girlfriend & now I’m Really Into it too. It’s fresh, smart, hilarious & it’s due in large part to Rachel.

Jessica’s Pick: You know I’m going Rachel Bloom!!! There are so many amazing women in this category, but Rachel makes that show!
