Native Deodorant Product Review

Surely you’ve seen Native Deodorant on a Target endcap, right? A few months ago, the natural based deodorant caught my eye & I decided to give it a go. After using it for several weeks, I’m giving you all my full thoughts to help you decide if you want to make the switch.

Does Native Deodorant Actually Work?

Truthfully, it works. As a devotee to Degree since I was a pre-teen, I’m super anxious about getting rid of my antiperspirant. I need it, right? I mean, this girl sweats! Since trying Native Deodorant, I’ve traveled to New Orleans in the summer, completed a camping trip where I didn’t shower for three days & frolicked on a hot beach in California. I’ve used it for workouts I’ve used it for walks around the neighborhood on 90° days & let me be clear, it works! Since making the switch, I feel clean, I sweat, but not profusely & I’m happy.

Is Native Deodorant Good For Teens?

Personally, I think this is a fantastic product for teens. Honestly, thinking of my pre-teen daughter is what prompted my trial of the product. One thing I like about Native is it is free of parabens. I am aware certain parabens can disrupt the endocrine system. For anyone, but especially a child before & during puberty, their endocrine system doesn’t need any further tampering. You can read a bit more about parabens here. For me, a paraben free product for a pre-teen is a must. I also like that the deodorant for teens is a bit more gentle than the regular deodorant. You can check out more about the teen formulas & scents on the Native website.

What Does It Smell Like?

You bet your ass I did a smell test before buying Native Deodorant. Your local Target likely has several different varieties. I’m a sucker for anything coconut, so I opted for the Coconut & Vanilla. So far, I love it. While it smells sweet, it’s a natural sweet. Thankfully, the scent is not overpowering & I’m really pleased.

What Does It Feel Like?

Honestly, I didn’t like the way it felt at first. My first several applications felt hard, almost like Shea Butter. The deodorant didn’t feel like it went on as easily as my old antiperspirant/deodorant combo. After less than a week’s worth of use, the stick softens up. Or maybe I just got used to it? I’m not really sure, but I’m happy with the way it feels. You don’t need to slather too much on. One thin layer does the trick. If I overdo it (like when I didn’t shower while camping) it pills a little bit, but nothing that’s noticeable or uncomfortable. One thing I love is that it does not feel oily!

Is It Worth The Money?

This is a great question. At about $12 a pop, Native Deodorant is definitely an investment. I’m happy to pay for a quality product that does the job & is healthy for me. At this time, I feel Native meets all these requirements, so I think it’s definitely worth the money.

What’s The Deal With Aluminum?

I’ve worn aluminum-based antiperspirant deodorant as long as I can remember. Throughout the years, I’ve read plenty of times about how aluminum-based antiperspirant is not super healthy for you. I’m definitely not an expert, but here’s some additional information from Teen Vogue. You can make your own informed decision. I’m up for making a switch to something more natural.

What Are The Ingredients in Native Deodorant?

This is straight off the website, but here they are. We use caprylic/capric triglyceride, tapioca starch, ozokerite, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), magnesium hydroxide, coconut oil, cyclodextrin, shea butter, dextrose, and L. Acidophilus (probiotic). Our scented deodorants include a proprietary blend of oils. Due to FDA recommendations, we use the term fragrance to refer to these oils.

Were You Paid or Compensated For This Review?

Nope. I bought two sticks of deodorant with my very own Target Red Card. If you find this review helpful & decide to give Native a try, you can use this referral link. But, I was in no way paid for this review. You’ve got my honest opinion & if it changes, I’ll be sure to update this post.

THE VERDICT

I am Really Into This!

Actually, I’m so into this product, I just purchased body wash & bar soaps from Native. As soon as my current toothpaste runs out, I will give their toothpaste a trial run as well.
