Publication Date October 9, 2018
The highly acclaimed author of Watching Edie returns with a new novel of dark psychological suspense that explores how those closest to us have the most to hide…
When Clara’s boyfriend, Luke, disappears, everyone believes that he’s left her, but Clara thinks she knows the truth. Recent evidence suggests that Luke had a stalker, and Clara worries that he’s been kidnapped. Then Luke’s older sister, Emily, who vanished twenty years ago, suddenly reappears.
Emily wants to help Clara with her search for Luke, but she refuses to talk about what happened–even though it nearly destroyed her family when she vanished. And the deeper Clara digs into Luke’s mysterious disappearance, the more convinced she is that the two incidents are connected.
The Lies We Told by Camilla Way Book Review
Secrets, dual storylines, a missing man & wonderful pacing makes The Lies We Told by Camilla Way a winner!
Steady Mystery That Keeps Me Guessing
As soon as I turn the first page, The Lies We Told, hooks me. This book is a solid & sturdy psychological thriller. I kept finding myself savoring EVERY WORD of this book as I didn’t want to miss a single crucial piece of the mystery.
A man is missing without a trace. As his girlfriend attempts to track him she stumbles upon secrets. His family has a shady past & a long-time missing daughter. The deeper she dives, the more questions pop up.
Meanwhile, in the past, there is a young girl that has a LOT of issues. This girl is a dangerous hot mess. Obviously, this timeline is important & it kept my full attention.
Love The Dual Storylines
The back & forth between the past & the present is awesome. Lots of books feature multiple storylines, but I truly enjoyed the way Camilla weaves these two tales. For me, it helps build the tension. The author’s writing really shines as I found myself equally invested in each timeline.
You know these two tales intersect eventually. But, the how & the why are what keeps me reading late into the night! Sure, I kept guessing, but I was SO wrong. I LOVE that in a thriller as I never want to guess the how & why.
THE VERDICT
I am Really Into This book! Honestly, I feel like my review can hardly do this book justice. It had me holding my breath, thinking about it non-stop & it’s such an enjoyable & well-written mystery.
If you’re looking for a captivating & suspenseful psychological thriller, READ THIS book! If you’re looking for more suspense, check out The Broken Girls by Simone St. James.
