Plated.
I am Really Into meal delivery service. I used Blue Apron for several months and posted about it here. Then I thought, why only try one service? Because each of these services give you discounts on your first delivery, it seemed like there wasn’t much to lose. I was so happy I did! I am even more Into Plated than I am Into Blue Apron!
The first difference you will notice is that Plated is more expensive than Blue Apron by about $12 a week for a two person plan. The trade-off is that there is WAY MORE food. With Blue Apron we never had leftovers, but with Plated we have something for lunch just about every time. This is huge for us because a big part of my cooking game is having leftovers for the next day.
Maybe the most awesome thing about Plated is the number of choices you get every week. You have a selection of 11 meals – 6 new recipes and 5 “encore recipes” that are available for an entire month. You can also get any combination of meals that you want. It was always frustrating to see meals on Blue Apron that we wanted to order but couldn’t because those combinations were not available. We loved the Cuban Chicken Empanadas so much we ordered them twice in one month!
There is also a dessert option, which was really nice for Valentine’s Day when we opted to stay home and watch Pretty Woman.
I have been Really Into a lot of meals, especially these Salmon Tacos with Seaweed Salad. I love seaweed salad and it was awesome to have some of it at home. The meal looked really pretty too! I always feel like I am putting together professional plates when I make these meals.
We started this service during Lent when Mark couldn’t eat meat on Fridays, so we ordered a veggie meal every week. Mark loved the Poutine with Arugula Salad so much he literally taped the recipe card on the cabinet. Apparently I need to make that one again…..
The packaging for Plated works really well too. I like that the meals come all in one bag – although I am always thinking about how much trash I am producing. One thing that I was Really impressed with Blue Apron was their customer service, but with Plated I don’t have any experience because I haven’t had one complaint! Every meal has come perfectly packaged with no damage and all of the ingredients have arrived unscathed.
I am Really Into Plated, and I have a few free weeks to give away! Let me know if you would like to try and I will send you an invite – I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I’ve made two of the meals, pan seared chicken with asparagus and home fries & brown butter orecchiette, and loved them. I like everything about the experience from the way the orders are packaged and shipped to the layout of the recipe cards.
Thanks for this post! I was looking for something like this.
