Vanderpump Rules Pregame Cocktail

Sarah and her husband are all about trashy reality TV, and Vanderpump Rules is no exception.  Two of the show’s stars, Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval (the resident bartenders at Sur), have put out a long-awaited recipe book –  Fancy AF Cocktails: Drink Recipes from a Couple of Professional Drinkers, and we are stoked to make cocktails this season!  The first one I tried is the Vanderpump Rules Pregame Cocktail.

Fancy AF Cocktails

Fancy AF Cocktails has a section of “Trashy” Drinks that are intriguing.  They are based on the idea of making a good drink on the go.  The Pregame cocktail doesn’t sound good – I chose to make it out of complete morbid curiosity.  This drink, made from bourbon, BBQ Sauce, honey and sugar, has no business tasting good, but somehow it works!

The Pregame Cocktail

The recipe specifically calls for McDonald’s BBQ Sauce and honey, but I was at home and don’t typically keep that around. Instead, I used some sauce I had at my house, and I feel like it still kept with the “spirit” of the drink.  I definitely still made it in a water bottle.

Shake it Up

This cocktail must be made in a water bottle to get the full effect.  A couple of tablespoons of BBQ Sauce, honey, sugar, water, and some good bourbon go in, and then a good shake in the water bottle.  Perfect to mix on the go.  If you are feeling Fancy AF, pour it over ice and prepare to be surprised.

The Verdict

I picked what I thought was the most distasteful recipe in the book and ended up really liking it!  The Vanderpump Rules Pregame Cocktail is mysteriously good,  I cannot wait to try more from the book.  Keep up with Vanderpump Rules this season with Sarah, who is dishing about every episode right here on the blog.
