A feel-good story about the magic of Christmas… and the rush of falling in love under the mistletoe.
Single mother Abbey Fuller loves her family more than anything, and she doesn’t regret for a moment having had to put her dreams of being an interior designer on hold. But with her son, Max, growing up, she jumps at the chance when a friend recommends her for a small design job. How hard can it be?
Nick Sinclair needs his house decorated in time for his family’s festive visit-and money is no object. What he doesn’t need is to be distracted from his multimillion-dollar business-even if it is Christmas.
When Abbey pulls up to the huge Sinclair mansion, she has a feeling she might be out of her depth. And when she meets the gorgeous, brooding Nicholas Sinclair, she knows that she’s in real trouble . . .
With the snow falling all around them, can Abbey make her dreams of being a designer come true? And can she help Nick to finally enjoy the magic of Christmas?
Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses by Jenny Hale Book Review
Snow, dream job, Christmas & finding love? This sounds like a holiday read I can get Into any day of the week.
Can I Live in One of Jenny Hale’s Books, Please?
I am making this known! Like the main character in this book, I am a healthcare provider. I cannot decorate for anything, BUT I would love to find a gig decorating a mansion for Christmas. If I happen to be employed by a reclusive gentleman who buys my freshly baked pies, its an even better deal. Yes, I’m happily married, but I would still eat the pie!
Intro to Jenny Hale
My buddy Amy at Novel Gossip told me she really enjoys Jenny Hale’s writing. Of course, I fully trust Amy’s opinion as she is one of my main book goddesses. The honest truth is romance is still quite new to me. Yes, that all changed with my undying love for The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. I am still working my way through romance novels & figuring out what I like & what’s not for me.
I love the feel of this book. The story is heartwarming, lovely & makes me smile. In most of my reads, I love a strong heroine. While Abbey does her fair share of making her voice heard, I want a bit more from her. It was a little too convenient for my taste to have Nick continuously swoop in, uninvited no less, to “save the day”. That being said, it is a feel-good romance novel set during the Christmas season, so maybe that’s on me? Overall, the story is what I expected & I did love the ending. Days later, I find myself still thinking about Abbey, Nick & of course the mansion.
THE VERDICT
I am Into This book! I devoured it in a few days & would recommend it for anyone who loves Hallmark movie. While this is my first Jenny Hale novel, I plan to read more of her books in the near future. Read it if you want a sweet story to get you into the Holiday spirit.
One of my favorite Christmas books is The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan. If you’re looking for something short & introspective, definitely read The Deal of a Lifetime by Fredrick Backman. If you’re looking for a cozy Christmas mysteries, check out Murder in Her Stocking by G.A. McKevett & Twelve Slays of Christmas by Jacqueline Frost.
