Really Into Nordstrom

I am Really Into Nordstrom.

For years, I carried the misconception that I had to spend a fortune to shop in Nordstrom. I thought it was for rich ladies who lunch & I was definitely not that demographic. I actually can shop at Nordstrom & I freaking LOVE it! Quality products, great customer service, a solid rewards program, a cafe if I get hangry shopping for bathing suits & endless Jo Malone samples.

Nordstrom’s customer service is unbelievable. Several years ago when Derek & I were visiting Las Vegas, my dry skin was on fire. I ran to Nordstrom, where I previously purchased a MAC foundation & asked if someone could get me something that wouldn’t flake. I did not want to look like a zombie eating dinner at Bouchon. The gal helped me switch to a Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer that I use to this day- no flaking for my trip. Then, she asked me to hand over the half used concealer & gave me my money back. I was shocked! Nordstrom wanted me to be Really Into my make-up & that meant a lot to me.

I’m about the most indecisive person you’ve ever met, not flaky but indecisive for sure. Nordstrom lets me buy what I think will work & if it doesn’t I can return it. For an anxiety ridden individual such as myself, this is worth it’s weight in gold. They also have a pretty sweet rewards program for their credit card customers & extended the program to all shoppers recently.

Also, their dressing rooms are bad-ass. I break a mean sweat when I am doing some serious shopping, so to have a nice, well lit & calm dressing room is Ah-mazing. This girl needs help & I love that so many Nordstrom employees have a long history with the company. It shows me that they hire quality people & offer a good working environment. It’s Really cool to build a relationship with someone, get suggestions about other products & have someone to follow-up with if I have a question about my purchase.

I almost feel silly writing this blog post, but I seriously love this store. Nordstrom Rack is amazing as well. Same stuff with cheaper prices & the Clear the Rack sales are to die for! Haute Look is a Nordstrom site I peruse, but I haven’t bought anything off it yet. Unlike Nordstrom & Nordstrom Rack, much of the home goods I’ve looked at on Haute Look are non-returnable.

These are a few of my favorite things (to the tune of The Sound of Music of course)

Laura Mercier Radiance Primer I don’t wear a lot of make-up, so this is such a great fit for me. It provides a tiny amount of shine that makes me glitter, just like Edward Cullen.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer It’s not a huge jump here folks, but it has SPF and provides a little bit of color with light overage. Best of all, it doesn’t make me look like an extra in ‘Thriller’.

PJ Salvage Pajamas I was hunting for a thick pair of flannel PJs FOREVER & theses are the real deal. At the Clear the Rack Event, I stocked up for Christmas gifts next year. They are the best.

Jo Malone Everything Blackberry & Bay is my daughter’s favorite & she opted one year to get 2 small Jo Malone perfumes rather than to have a birthday party. That’s some love for Jo Malone.

Caslon T-Shirts I love a good cotton based shirt & these are so soft I can’t get enough. I try to stock up when they are on sale, but they never shrink and stay soft wash after wash. They’re also easy to dress up or down.

Paige Denim I lucked out and got these at Nordstrom Rack for less than half the original price. They don’t stretch, they’re made in LA & Paige was a fit model for a ton of denim designers. I’ve got 2 pairs & don’t want to wear anything else.

BP ankle boots I’ve had these over a year and they are great in the spring, fall & winter- hell, I’ve even worn them in the summer. They are pretty comfy and easy to dress up or down. Love the color & rounded toe.

Joules Wellies I read a lot of British fiction & was dying for a real pair of Wellies. My daughter &  caught these guys on sale & we love them. They’re great in a little bit of snow, perfect for rainy Portland weather & comfy. My daughter wears her almost every day. You can also buy these Welly socks that keep your feet extra dry & warm.

Ugg Slippers Again, I got these guys on a sweet sale over 5 years ago and they are still going strong. The sheepskin is still soft, the leather looks good. They don’t stay tied, but who cares? I love them anyway.

ED Ballet Flats These flats are comfy. I swore off flats long ago after too many blisters, but I can handle these. Also, they’re super cute, well made and Ellen DeGeneres designed them. They go on sale a few times a year & they’ve got some new colors for Spring.
