Several weeks ago, we were introduced to the super cool card game, Super Nova Smash. Basically, it’s a card game paired with your mobile app & it’s a race to the finish line. The cards are beautifully created with really bright colors. The free app is wild too! While racing/playing with friends, the smartphone guides & directs you through challenges, roadblocks & distractions. The more you play, you develop strategies. That’s what is cool. We played games with adults & with kids (ages 8 & up) & it’s a blast for everyone.

What is Super Nova Smash?

Super Nova Smash! is a fast-paced card game for 2-8 players. The goal is to get rid of your cards—and screw over your friends—before they do it to you.

The app is there to tell you when to play, give you random challenges, and generally make your life a panic-inducing nightmare (in a fun way!)

What Do I Need to Play?

You will need a deck of cards. Buy them here! A free app for your smartphone & a Wifi connection!

Is Super Nova Smash Fun?

Heck yes! Honestly, the more I play it, the more I like it. I see all these ways I can get better to try to get a higher score. Sometimes that involves me being cutthroat & that’s okay! Speed is not always your friend. Often, taking your time pays off so you don’t wind up with as many of the damaging cards at the end. But, the clock is always against you. You have to constantly weigh the deck against the clock. I really like that aspect of the competition.

Any Drawbacks?

The only drawback I can see at this time is that all players need to be on the same Wifi. Not really a huge issue, but if you’re out & about, you want someone to have an unlimited data plan. Oh, & likely a charged phone. Every once in a while, a player would want to quit the game, so we would have to log off and log back in. These are relatively small issues for me.

THE VERDICT

We are Really Into This game! It’s a hell of a lot of fun. If your friends are into games, make some drinks, grab a deck & have a blast!
