List of Feel Good Books
I’m sitting here during the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic & all I want to do is read books that take me someplace else & leave me feeling hopeful. Anyone else? I hope you’re able to find some uplifting reads in this list of feel good books!
Midnight at the Blackbird Café by Heather Webber
Have you ever eaten blackbird pie? Well, you’ll want a piece from The Blackbird cafe. If eaten, it will give you dreams of a loved one who has passed. What an amazing gift! This is top on my list of feel good books because there is something magical, special & so uplifting about this story.
The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan
Oh, one of my favorites! The Christmas Sisters is also my introduction to Sarah Morgan fangirl status. I love her books & this one is so special. Sisters each dealing with their own issues trying to come together at Christmas. Honestly, read it any time of the year for a feel good family tale.
The Lemon Sisters by Jill Shalvis
This book will always be special to me because I read it at a really hard time. Jill’s writing brought me laughs & I love the town of Wildstone. This is part of a series but easily read as a standalone. The Lemon Sisters is about second chances, sisters & a nice helping of romance. Jill has another series that’s super cute too!
Virgin River by Robyn Carr
Ready to visit Virgin River? Yes, it’s a fantastic Netflix series, but the books are works of art! I listen to them on audio & highly recommend the series! This is the start & we meet Mel & Jack. Virgin River is a town of hearty, authentic people & I bet you will fall in love with it & never want to leave. Robyn writes these super strong female characters & I just love them. If you’re looking for a great Robyn standalone, check out Sunrise on Half Moon Bay.
Snow Angel Cove by Raeanne Thayne
Another Audible Escape favorite is Raeanne Thayne’s Haven Point series. Snow Angel Cove is the first & it’s a great intro to a series filled with happily ever afters & a super cute town. Think Hallmark with a little bit of grit. These titles are such a blast & definitely top 5 on my List of Feel Good Books.
Slightly South of Simple by Kristy Woodson Harvey
Slightly South of Simple by Kristy Woodson Harvey is a wonderful read about family, secrets & sisterly love. Read this if you’re looking to start a series that gives you all the feels. Sisters, secrets & an idyllic family home make up the first book in the Peachtree Bluff series. You can also read her newest, Feels Like Falling. It is fabulous too!
Springtime at Hope Cottage by Annie Rains
I love every minute of this tender & charming story. While reading Springtime at Hope Cottage, I feel all snuggled up in this wonderful world. Everything will be okay, people get seconds chances, your neighbors support you & you may even get a free fudge sampler platter. Let me be clear, my friends, we all need that feeling in our life. Annie Rains delivers hope.
Well Met by Jen DeLuca
A sweet & charming tale that centers around a town Renaissance Faire. Well Met is cozy, cute, funny, clever & a hell of a lot of fun. There is something so endearing, satisfying & wonderfully entertaining about this book. I just love it!
The Write Escape by Charish Reid
If you’re looking for a romantic tale that centers around a strong, hard-working female protagonist, look no further. The Write Escape by Charish Reid is a wonderful story about love, perseverance & following one’s heart. Also, love the fact that it is set in Ireland!
Sweet Tea & Sympathy by Molly Harper
Laughs, heartwarming family time, hilarious scenes, memorable characters with a huge helping of small-town & Southern twang. Sweet Tea & Sympathy is the start of Molly Harper’s Southern Eclectic series & it is just so delightful & enjoyable!
The Story of Arthur Truluv by Elizabeth Berg
I will admit, this one is a little heavier, but still so wonderful. The Story of Arthur Truluv is about kindred spirits, relationships & loss. It’s one of those stories that although it deals with heavier story matter, it’s done so well that it leaves you smiling.
Good Man, Dalton by Karen McQuestion
I’m trusting my mom on this one. She loves a story with a happy ending more than anyone I know. As soon as I sit down to write this List of Feel Good Books, I have to include one of her all-time faves, Dalton! There are tons of secrets in this novel. So many people have something to hide & it all comes out. I couldn’t put the books down. The story sucks you in & I savored every page. If you love this one, be sure to check out Karen’s book Dovetail.
Rush by Lisa Patton
Sorority life in the Deep South with a huge helping of generational racism, a myriad of traditions, female friendships & a generous finish of feminism & human rights. That’s a lot for a book, right? Somehow Lisa Patton pulls it off in Rush. I really loved this one!
The Simplicity of Cider by Amy Reichert
This is a super sweet family tale with a picturesque setting. Sweet, a bit sexy & heartwarming. This is my favorite book by Amy! I also love Amy’s Coincidence of Coconut Cake.
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry
What a tale. I’m now quitting my job and opening a bookstore. Magical, heartwarming, emotional & a bittersweet finish. I loved it and will read it again and again!
See any favorites I left out? Let me know! I’m always on the hunt for feel-good books!
