Best True Crime Podcasts
Best True Crime Podcasts
Lots of things change from year to year at Really Into This, but one thing is for certain: We are Really Into True Crime! While this is a list of our Favorites & what we think are the Best True Crime Podcasts, we want to know your favorites!
Someone Knows Something
The host, David Ridgen is lovable, trustworthy & sensitive to the victim’s families. His delivery is professional, yet vulnerable. Ridgen gives everything he has to these cases & listeners fall in love with his candor. True crime lovers, be prepared to say goodbye to your chores & hello to your earbuds.
Dirty John
John Meehan or “Dirty John” is the guy your family warns you about. John is a swindler, a liar, a crook & is a walking, talking wolf in sheep’s clothing. Meehan spends his life preying upon the vulnerable & makes no apologies for any of his vile behavior. This story is so wild it’s at the top of our list for best true crime podcasts.
The Murder Squad: Jensen & Holes
We love us some Paul Holes & Billy Jensen around here. Insert plug for Billy’s fabulous book here! This podcast is grisly, real & so good! “You have been watching and listening to stories about violent crimes and investigations for years. Now is the time to put all of that knowledge and wits to good use to actually help solve a crime. Welcome to the Murder Squad.”
My Favorite Murder
Okay, here’s the deal, this is actually not one of my favorite true Crime Podcasts. Go ahead & take away my true crime card. While I really like Karen & Georgia individually, I just don’t love it. But, I know lots of people ride so hard for it & that’s awesome. They’ve done a lot for the true-crime community & that is awesome.
Dr. Death
DR. DEATH is about a medical system that failed to protect these patients at every possible turn. The scariest part of this story to me is that this happened so recently and that none of the regulations we have in place stopped a person who seemingly had no idea how to perform surgery.
Over My Dead Body
Dan & Wendi are both attorneys. Their marriage falls apart and ends in murder. Throw in a custody battle, bizarre in-laws & lies & secrets. Over My Dead Body Podcast is a quick listen. Check out Season 2 that is all about Exotic Joe!
S-Town
John despises his Alabama town and decided to do something about it. He asks a reporter to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But then someone else ends up dead, sparking a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man’s life.
Serial
Serial, the most downloaded podcast of all time, gave us a new way to listen to the radio by giving us weekly episodes and each season is a new story. The Case of Adnan Syed is the first & best season.
The Man in the Window
This one really gives you a closer look at the Golden State Killer case from the eyes of the victims. It’s s heartbreaking & a memorable listen. This one is definitely one of the best true crime podcasts in recent history. In Man in the Window, Paige St. John, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter has uncovered never before revealed details about the man who would eventually become one of California’s most deadly serial killers.
Atlanta Monster
This true crime podcast tells the story of one of the city’s darkest secrets, The Atlanta Child Murders. Nearly 40 years after these horrific crimes, many questions still remain. Listening to this, I think about all of the other stories that are out there. How many guilty people could possibly be living amongst us? How easy is it to get away with murder?
The Drop Out
After reading & loving Bad Blood, I need more of the story! I want to hear the voices & see the faces! The Dropout delivers on the voices with multiple interviews. While it doesn’t put a face to the name, you can watch The Inventor drops on HBO! if nothing else, you have to hear Elizabeth’s voice! So bizarre.
Up & Vanished
What initially begins as a television documentary, turns into a podcast. While certain episodes explain the backstory, the series as a whole moves pretty fast. It gets crazy. There’s a latex glove found in Tara’s yard, a bizarre Facebook encounter that targets Payne & the podcast & a discussion with none other than Nancy Grace.
